Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of paint usage, color formulas, and other necessary documentation.
  • Prepare surfaces of vehicles for painting by cleaning, sanding, and applying primers or fillers as needed.
  • Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department
  • Mix and match paint colors using color charts and formulas to achieve accurate color matches for vehicle repairs.
  • Apply paint to vehicles using various techniques, including spray guns, brushes, and rollers, ensuring even and smooth coverage.
  • Follow established painting procedures and quality standards to achieve precise color matching, blending, and finishing.
  • Use masking techniques to protect areas of vehicles that do not require painting and ensure clean paint lines.
  • Apply clear coats and other finishing products to enhance the durability and appearance of painted surfaces.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for imperfections, such as runs, sags, or uneven application, and perform necessary touch-ups or corrections.
  • Maintain and clean painting equipment, including spray guns, paint booths, and mixing machines, to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
  • Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Body Shop team, including technicians and estimators, to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in automotive paints, finishes, and application techniques.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior auto painters, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels of paint supplies and materials, and place orders as necessary to maintain adequate stock.

  • Basic computer skills for accessing digital paint mixing systems and job tracking software.
  • Excellent colour perception and ability to match complex colour formulas.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent paint quality.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and proper handling of paint materials
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
