Title:  Driver - Medium Truck

Job Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a medium-sized truck to transport goods, materials, and equipment to designated locations.
  • Load and unload goods onto the truck, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies while operating the truck.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure its safe operation and report any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Plan and follow efficient routes to deliver goods within scheduled timeframes, considering traffic conditions and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of pickups, deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and other necessary documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and resolve any issues or delays.
  • Adhere to proper loading and unloading procedures to prevent damage to goods and ensure their safe transportation.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining a professional demeanor and addressing customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Handle cash or payments for delivery services, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely submission of funds.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and conducting routine inspections.
  • Follow proper procedures for reporting accidents, incidents, or violations to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck interior and exterior, including regular cleaning and basic maintenance.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures related to driver safety, vehicle operation, and cargo handling.
  • Continuously monitor and assess road conditions, following best practices for safe driving and adapting to weather or traffic changes.
  • Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department

Qualifications

  • Drving License
  • Experience driving medium-duty trucks
  • Experience in automotive parts delivery or related field
  • Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) endorsement, Defensive Driving Course.
  • Experience, preferably in a commercial or delivery capacity

Skills

  • Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and electronic communication.
  • Excellent driving record with no major traffic violations.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
  • Physical fitness and ability to handle manual tasks related to loading/unloading cargo.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with GPS navigation systems and route planning software.
  • Familiarity with local roads and traffic patterns.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate delivery logs and documentation.
  • Ability to handle basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
